AMIRI BARAKA
1934 – 2014
Amiri Baraka was born in Newark, NJ. Baraka was a poet, writer, and political activist. In the 1960's, Baraka changed his name (from LeRoi Jones) and became a black nationalist and in the 70's he joined the Marxist movement.
